I’ve told you how many times you’ve heard people express excitement about things getting back to “normal life”.
But started being honest with you – going is the last thing I want.
I want our lives to be even better than they used to be. I want us all to go forward together, not backward. I want to take all the lessons we learned when life slowed to a halt, and used them with the intention of making my own. the future which is much brighter.
I want us to continue to earn time for things that matter, not going back to things that never were.
As life gradually begins to return to “normal,” I invite you to reflect on the things learned over the past few months, and commit to changing one thing that goes forward. There are so many lessons, but choosing one to do differently is your chance success will increase sharply.
Here are some basic lessons – and how we can do it differently.
1. Little things matter
When life slows down, you tend to notice more. Although we usually miss her, surrounding so much beauty all the time. My mom opened her eyes so hard.
When the pandemic started, my mother moved into our house for a few months and brought with her her positive spirit. Every morning she keeps going for walks and taking pictures of the beautiful things she saw. Then she was required to keep coming home and showing them to me and my family. Textured bark on trees, snails on the ground, rainbows or colorful wildflowers. Her passion was contagious. She taught me that in the midst of change we can either find beauty in life or complain about what it is. Since then, we’ve appreciated the little things much more – from my children’s contagious laughter to the gorgeous sunset to the chocolate chip mint ice cream bowl.
Try to create minutes of real estate where you will be able to notice your environment and appreciate them.
2. Kindness first
COVID-19 may have shocked our world – but it’s really something that almost all of humanity is going through together. Behaved so impressed and moved by simple acts of kindness noticed by friends, family and even strangers online. When you focus on the good, the good gets better. When you look outside yourself and serve someone else, your problems seem to matter much less.
Of course, kindness goes beyond simply giving someone a compliment or writing a thank you note. Sometimes kindness means fighting for change and speaking out against injustice.
Make sense to always be kind. You never know what someone else is going through – especially in these attempts. Be generous on any occasion. I promise I will never regret it.
3. You decide how you spend your time (and with whom you spend it)
How many times have you said to yourself, “I’m too busy to do this” or “I wish I had time for this”? Here’s what: we all have the same 24 hours a day. But what to do with it is up to you.
During the pandemic, many of us found ourselves with more time. Time to dream, create, reflect and plan. But as life begins to pick up speed again, you will still have to give up during that time. Be intentional with how you plan your day. Think well about the things you start doing and the things you stop doing.
Along with this, be careful about who you let go of in your circle. Keep your distance from people and relationships that remain healthy for you.
You have the ability and strength to make decisions in every area of life. You are responsible for your own happiness, your friendships and your work. If you like them and want to change them – you can.
4. Change is inevitable – embrace it
Oppose change. Adapt along with it. The future may seem particularly uncertain these days, but frankly, it has always been so. When I graduated from college, I worked for a company I considered “stable”. A few years later, he went bankrupt. The only certainty uncertainty. Plan for the future as best you can, but be flexible when things turn out the way you hoped. Look at change as an opportunity, not an obstacle.
This is especially true if you have a business that had to rotate during COVID-19. If the things you’re used to doing work, it’s a good time to direct your business. Use this time to try new things and experiment. Not everything you try will work. And good well. It may take a few tries to figure out what works for you. There has never been a better time to try something new. Resistance to change stops progress – Accepting change stimulates growth.
5. The most important things in life happen
I know so many parents who because of the pandemic have spent more time with their children and family than ever before. The last 20 years have traveled a lot and I love looking at these 3 months in quarantine as a gift.
Life is about work, money or even success. After all, relationships are really important. When life starts to get busier, make sure you take the time to become more important. Give your family, friends and loved ones the gift of your time. Love Your family (and yourself) is enough not to say things that are considered a priority. Be intentional in your relationship and invest time in their upbringing.
As our lives begin to re-emerge, I hope we can all be intentional about how we spend our time and about what we focus on.
Instead of going back to normal life, move forward together.
