Will 2020 be the year in which you will finally create a profitable online business?
You think about it every year. You went into countless internet business ideas and imagined what your life would be like if you could quit your job and make money online.
You could travel the world with ease, create a comfortable lifestyle for yourself and your family and exercise financial freedom. You could finally escape the 9-5 lifestyle restrictions and fully own your time.
But what happens then? You usually spend some time thinking about ideas, but in the end you resort to your comfort zone.
The steady income of your secure job, the ease of letting someone else tell you what to do every day (rather than trying to figure it out from scratch), and a consistent schedule.
You say to yourself, “You know what? This year is a little too crazy. I’ll start an online business next year!”
But “next year” never comes.
We are here to tell you that 2020 is the year where you should start your online business. There are more options than ever, and you should take advantage!
To help get you started, let’s look at the layout of 27 Business Ideas. Read them, see what you connect with, and start exploring. So start with one, that is that easy!
27 Easy Start Internet Business Ideas
Here are our list of 27 online business ideas for 2020:
1. Start a blog and monetize it
We talk a lot about starting a blog on this siteand for good reason. In 2020, it is easier to start a blog than ever before, and a blog can be a great potential source of revenue (if you know how to monetize it).
Keep in mind that you have not just started a blog and expect the money to be made. You have to constantly create content, but it also has to be content that educates, informs or entertains people. In other words, they need to attract their interest in some way.
Furthermore, you have to sell something through your blog as well. These can be inventory, products, digital products, sponsored posts, coaching, ebooks, etc.
But if you are willing to get involved in a business and have been in it for a long time, blogging can be very profitable (some bloggers make $ 50,000 a month or more).
Here are some resources to help you get started with your first blog:
2. Get started with affiliate marketing
Affiliate marketing is basically the process of making money promoting another’s product.
There are two main ways that most people do affiliate marketing:
- Information products. You promote products like eBooks, membership websites, video series, etc. This type of affiliate marketing can earn you up to 50% or more of commission, has relatively small barriers to entry, and is easy to find products to promote.
- Amazon’s partners. Many affiliate marketers have success with Amazon. There are literally millions of products to choose from, and it can be quite cost effective. See Amazon Associates for more information.
Quick side note: Before getting started with affiliate marketing, it helps to have at least a basic knowledge of SEO and authoring text (more on each one later).
That being said, you can read a few copyright books and check out the SEO Beginner’s Guide from Moz to help get you started.
3. Set up an ecommerce site
One of the best ways to make an online income is to set up an ecommerce store. Here are the positives: If you try to get started with affiliate marketing, the best affiliate marketers are focused on 3 major niches; dating, losing weight and making money online. You would have to compete with the best and the best, and it is not easy.
The e-commerce route in many markets will compete with old-school business people who may or may not have internet experience. Many of them have great, outdated websites, which leaves you a lot of room for improvement and you can take advantage of their disadvantages.
It’s still not easy by any means. It requires hard work and you need to stand out among the hundreds of thousands of e-commerce and online shops websites. But by filling in a unique niche and pursuing the right marketing techniques, you can make your ecommerce business make a profit.
Here are some tips to help you get started with an ecommerce store:
- Find a profitable market. Brainstorm some ideas, research your keywords and try to get as specific as possible. For example, there is probably a lot of competition in selling surfboards. But if you reduce it to surfboards, you may have a better chance of standing out in the market.
- Ask yourself, “Is the product expensive?” There are costs associated with production, distribution, resale, etc. If your product is not expensive (at least $ 50 or more), there may not be a profit left to sell the product.
- Ask yourself, “Is the product in the growth market?” If your market has already peaked (i.e. the VCR market) and is falling, you probably don’t want to get involved. Instead, you want to get into an emerging industry – that’s where you’ll have the most potential and growth.
- Consider building a Shopify store. Shopify is a system built for e-commerce. With some basic web knowledge, you can set up a good looking store very quickly, with low budget investment and no coding required. Shopify also has a 30-day free trial so you can start without spending any money.
Here are some additional resources to create a successful online store:
4. Self-publish a book on Amazon
Have you ever considered writing a book but didn’t know where to start? All the publishing nonsense, editing and formatting, marketing, etc.?
With Amazon, you can self-publish a book and easily earn money from it. There are a few simple and inexpensive guides like this one to help you write your book and keep it steady.
Here’s the secret sauce: If you can launch your book and make a few hundred sales in the first week, Amazon will download it and start promoting it for you. That way you can make some real money. It’s actually easier than it sounds, but we’ll get to that in a minute.
Here are some tips for writing a book:
- Validate the book by giving a survey to friends, an email list and / or websites such as Pickfu. Validating your idea before you write a book will improve the chances of people willing to buy your book (and don’t waste time writing it.)
- Make an outline and stick to it if possible.
- Take at least 30 minutes to an hour to write every day.
- Format the book to Amazon’s standards.
Once the book is written and formatted, you can head to KDP.amazon.com. Sign in with your Amazon account, then select “Kindle eBook” in the “Create a new title” section.
Here’s a good strategy for your book launch week (for 100+ sales):
- For the first week, set a price of 99 cents.
- Run a 99 cent promotion with sites like Buck Books and Robin Reads.
- Post the book snippet on the relevant subreddit, and eventually link it to your book.
- Post 1-2 guest posts during launch week that come back to your book.
- Explode your email list multiple times.
- By the end of the week, hopefully, your book has gone down the first 5,000 or 10,000 total paid ratings. From there, raise the price to $ 2.99 and keep raising the $ 1 price every few days until it stops selling (then lower it by the dollar). This will tell you the optimal price for your book.
(This is a case study of a book who used this strategy to successfully and consistently earn $ 3 to $ 4 a month.)
5. Create a digital product or course
Creating a digital product or course is similar to writing an ebook. You monetize your expertise by passing it on to others.
That being said, you do not have the advantage of Amazon promoting your course. You need to do the promotion yourself, through your own website, email list, and possibly through affiliate partners. You also need to create a compelling sales page that will persuade visitors to buy from you.
If you don’t already have an audience, it might be better to first post on Amazon first. That way you can validate the idea of the course, expand the email list (just make sure you have an email sign-up on the front and back of the book!) And more or less create a rough draft of the course (since it will probably be similar to a book).
Here are some additional resources to help you create your online course:

6. Become a YouTuber
Videos are becoming more popular. From Instagram and Snapchat Stories to Facebook, live videos will only continue to grow. If you’ve always loved the thought of being behind the camera, now is the time to take advantage.
Whether it’s running vlogs and monetizing / selling products to your audience or building a YouTube channel that will drive more traffic to your site, 2020 is a great time to start.
Not only will YouTube videos help you tell better stories and provide more valuable content to your audience – it can also help you gain profitable speaking opportunities.
The best part is you don’t even have to go out and buy an expensive new camera – as long as you have a smartphone with a quality camera lens, you can start making your first video right now!
7. Start application development
Mobile apps are becoming more popular year by year. If you have an idea for a cool, useful and / or fun phone or tablet app, this might be the best time.
It helps to have some coding knowledge, but it’s not an absolute necessity. There are many software developers who want to work with people to build applications.
A word of caution: The app market is currently saturated, so make sure you check out the app and do some research before investing a lot of money into your idea.
Here are some resources to help you with the application development process:
8. Learn Facebook Advertising
Facebook continues to expand and grow. Therefore, companies spend more on Facebook ads. But here’s the problem: a lot of old-school businesses don’t know what they’re doing when it comes to Facebook ads. Even newer businesses don’t have the time it takes to learn the ins and outs of getting the best return on their Facebook ads.
So they’re looking for Facebook ad specialists who could step in and do it for them. Fortunately, this is something you can learn pretty quickly. Once you’ve done that, you can reach out to businesses and help you create profitable Facebook ads.
Here are some Facebook ad resources you can learn from:
9. Learn and master SEO
SEO (search engine optimization) refers to getting a higher ranking site for certain “search terms” in search engines like Google. When a site is ranked higher, it gets more relevant traffic and in turn can generate more revenue.
This is another highly regarded skill in the world of internet marketing. This could be difficult because Google is always changing its algorithms. It also changes some search rules. You always have to be on the leading edge, learning and testing new strategies.
If you manage to master SEO, companies will always be ready to pay for your help.
10. Become a copier
Author writing is the art and science of strategically expressing words (whether written or spoken) that drive people to take some form of action. This can range from anything from sales pages, email marketing, to even quality blog content.
If you have a natural inclination and passion for writing, copying can be your ticket to earning an online income.
It’s a great way to achieve freedom in your life. Not only does copying allow you to work remotely, it also lets you control your schedule. In addition, learning the skill itself will help you in many areas of online business (i.e., blog building, affiliate marketing, etc. – when you can write in a compelling way, it all becomes much easier!)
11. Skype coaching
Do you have the expertise you want to help people with? Then Skype coaching will be a potential option for you. Basically, you’re jumping on Skype and helping your clients. This can be in the form of daily, weekly or monthly calls.
There are coaches on Skype for just about everyone – life coaches, health coaches, date coaches, etc.
Note: It is much easier to market your coaching services when you also have a blog about your coaching topic.
12. Buy and transfer domains
You’ve probably heard of people buying and spinning real estate, right? They buy a house for a relatively good price, repair it a little, and then resell it for a nice profit.
It’s the same idea for buying and switching domains. Whether it’s yours own domainor if you want to buy someone else’s page and switch it up, it can be a good source of revenue online.
You can use resources like Empire Flippers to buy and sell your domains.
13. Start the Podcast
A podcast can be a great revenue generator.
As you grow your podcast, you can offer paid sponsorships and sell your own products and services. Through the podcast, you will be able to earn the trust of your listeners, making them much more likely to buy what you have to offer.
Dropshipping is when you create an online store to sell other people’s products (i.e., do nothing from production or shipping). Then you get a commission for each sale.
The advantage is that you do not have to risk buying stock products and losing money if not sold. The barrier to entry is lower and you don’t have to invest nearly as much to get started.
If you want to learn how to ship, Drop Ship Lifestyle is one of the best resources to help you get started.
15. Consulting on a pay-per-click basis
(These are PPC ads)
Have you ever seen these sponsored ads at the top of Google search results? This is pay-per-click (PPC) advertising.
This is a form of internet marketing where advertisers pay a fee each time one of their ads is clicked. Simply put, this is a way to buy visits to your site.
If you can master this skill, you can offer the service to other companies.
16. Sell products on eBay
Sure it’s a little old school, but people still make a lot of money on eBay. To get started selling, you can do something as simple as going to your local clothing store and buying clothing at a store.
Then you can list it on eBay for a higher price, and if it sells, you can invest more in clothing and continue to make more profit.
It requires some strategy and planning, but it is certainly a profitable way to do business online.
17. Become a web developer
A web developer is someone who knows how to build a bottom-up website. To do this, you need to learn coding, which will take time and hard work. But if you are willing to put in the effort, it can be worth it.
Here are some tips to learn how to code and get started with web development.
18. Invest your time in graphic design
Have you ever seen a wonderful sales page or website design that really pops out of you? This is all because of the graphic designer.
Graphic designers are basically visual communicators. They design websites, sales pages, logos and really anything else that needs to look sharp.
To be a great graphic designer, you don’t have to be great at drawing, you don’t need a college degree, and you don’t have to buy an imaginatively expensive computer. But you need to be a visual thinker, you need to specialize in something and you definitely need a portfolio.
19. Build niche pages
The idea behind a niche website is to target a specific niche (for example, a specific type of photo), target Google by keywords related to that niche, and then turn that traffic into earnings through affiliate offers or by selling your own products,
A lot of research deals with this – you should be ready for a little work. Creating a good niche site can earn you an additional $ 500 a month or more.

A paid private Facebook group gives you the opportunity to create a very engaged community.
Provides you with a place to deliver your content, allows community members to interact with each other, allows you to restrict access to qualified members, and allows you to moderate and control the group.
Note: If you already have a website and email list, it’s easier to create a privately paid Facebook group, but it’s not an absolute must.
